Our story
From Malindi to Nairobi: a platform built on purpose
ISHMAR was founded in October 2023 in Malindi, Kilifi County, Kenya, by a team passionate about visibility, certification and business connections. The name ISHMAR represents purpose, faith, trust, empowerment and heritage — the values behind a company built to create Halal awareness and market access for entrepreneurs.
What began as a vision to bridge African enterprises with the global Halal economy has grown into a platform serving startups, SMEs, youth and women-led ventures across industries. On 5 June 2024, ISHMAR held its first major Nairobi Traders Expo, launched by Hon. Esther Muthoni Pasaris and bringing together 150+ businesses, 3,000+ attendees and international speakers.
Since then, ISHMAR has continued to create platforms where businesses can showcase products, access Halal certification guidance, receive business training, connect with investors and partners, and participate in exhibitions, conferences and business forums.

ISHMAR Halal Traders Expo is founded in Malindi, Kilifi County, Kenya, by a team passionate about visibility, certification and business connections.
The first major Nairobi ISHMAR Traders Expo is launched by Hon. Esther Muthoni Pasaris, bringing together 150+ businesses, 3,000+ attendees and international speakers.
ISHMAR is now at 49+ editions of its expo, has served 1,000+ clients and trained 400+ youth entrepreneurs, with 60% of exhibitors women-owned businesses.
